Betty Morrison was born in Shenandoah, IA, on April 5th, 1931, to Ernest and Anna Reinert. She is survived by her brother Richard Reinert. She grew up on her family farm just east of Coin, IA. She would tell her stories about riding her horse to school, helping her folks run the farm, fishing and even holding her birthday guest up behind her barn with a BB gun. She also loved playing the piano, which she displayed her talent on the local radio show. She was a beautiful bright young lady and a little tom boy rolled into one package. During her high school years, she met her future husband, Glen Jones.
In the 1950’s, her doctor advised her to move to a drier climate because of health reasons. She made her home in Albuquerque, NM and began working for a law office and went to school to become a court reporter. During her training at a business college, she learned shorthand, typing, and dictation. She had a change in heart leaving her law career and began working in the medical field where she worked several years for some of the top neurologist in the state New Mexico.
In 1953 she married Glen and had four children, Carl, Nancy, and the twins Chuck and Roy. In the 1970’s, Betty divorced Glen and began raising the four children on her own. She worked tirelessly and several extra jobs to keep them fed, shopping garage sales and Goodwill keeping them dressed while accompanying them to school events, baseball and swimming lessons.
Betty had several interests including square dancing, ballroom dancing, sewing, and outdoors, which she shared with her children. She was always working in her garden or with her flowers. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially her hummingbirds.
She was our family’s foundation and pillar of strength and wisdom. She raised three families, her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She kept her opinions to herself, conversations with everyone secret and an open door to anyone. She would fiercely protect her family against anyone but always offered a safe place with love and understanding.
Betty was proceeded in death by her daughter Nancy Mullarky. Betty leaves behind her brother Richard Reinert and her sons Carl and wife Kristie, Chuck and his wife Darlene, and Roy and his wife Dawn. Numerous grandchildren Aimee and Aaron Jaramillo, Anna and Shawn Loomis, Cara and Damon Janner, Mathew Jones, Charlie and Mary Jones, Sondra and Chad Williamson, Sherry Collier-Jones, Cheyenne Blanchard, Sean and Jenny Jones, and Ryan Jones. Great grandchildren Sammy Varoz, Kenzie Jaramillo, Ellie Jaramillo and multiple others including great, great grandchildren.
