Charlene Renee Lee Brown

July 22, 1976 — February 23, 2024

Albuquerque

It is with love and sadness that we announced the homegoing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, coworker, and acquaintance.

Charlene Renee Lee Brown was born to Charles RL Brown and Vivian Doris (Clay/Brown) Smith
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was the youngest sibling in her family and was adored by everyone.

She graduated from Manzano High School and Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute with a certificate in Phlebotomy. she recently received her New Mexico Real Estate license.

 **Family**

Charlene bore two children, Tahja and Dehja Bastian and had two grandchildren.

She loved deeply and looked forward to her upcoming nuptials to her fiancé' Bruce.

 **Train up a child**

Charlene was a lifelong and faithful member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Albuquerque, NM, where both her parents and grandparents served, and her family attended.   She accepted the Lord at an early age and served in the following capacities: Sunday School teacher, Youth Director, Trustee Board member, Media Director, Senior Women's Ministry helper and
 Custodian.

Her years of service at Mount Olive may have ended but her impact will reign for years to come.

Charlene was employed by Greystar Property Management for 10 yrs, serving the New Mexico and Nevada markets.  She also had limited experience in medical care and janitorial services.

 **Legacy**

Charlene had an infectious smile and was a ray of sunshine. She had a shy and quiet temperament but, that was not to be mistaken for weakness. She loved to eat and shop and was an adventurer. She was organized and meticulous in her everyday work.

An unexpected and brief illness took Charlene from us on February 23, 2024.

Charlene was preceded in homegoing by her parents, Charles, and Vivian; her grandparents Rev. Robert Lee/Madeline Brown and Sylvester/Doretha (Wilson) Clay; her sisters: Marceleta Sutton, Dorinda Powell, Diedra Furbush and Merele Harston; her brothers: Charles RL Brown Jr. and Darryl Brown.

Charlene leaves to mourn her absence, her daughters, Tajha and Dejha Bashton; her grandchildren: Malikai and Elehya; and the love in her life, Bruce Jefferson.

Also missing her presence are her sisters: MaryJo Brown, Divana Harston, and Journey Karla Harston; and her brother Mark Brown.

Saddened by her departure are her uncle: Rodney (Lydia) Clay; her aunts: Patricia Martin and Annie Rahman.

Additionally, she leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

 **Remembrance**

Homegoing services will be held on March 8, 2024, at 11am in the Sanctuary of Bethlehem Baptist Church (5915 Bluewater Rd NW) in Albuquerque, NM.

Charlene worked hard at anything she put her hands to. She could be called upon in times of need.

We are confident that she will hear the words of the Savior, “well done thou good and faithful servant."
