Charles Thayer

May 29, 1944 — June 6, 2018

Charles R. "Dick" Thayer, 74 of Los Lunas passed away after a long illness.  He was born and raised in Albuquerque and attended Rio Grande High School.  He served in the United States Air Force.  Dick was a plant operator for PNM for over 30 years.  He enjoyed volunteering at the Rio Grande Zoo which he did for 26 years.  His love for wolves would take him to Ramah and The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary where he enjoyed teaching people about the animals there.  He also loved his Therapy Dogs Danny and Molly and took them to visit patients at UNM hospital and Senior living centers.

Dick is survived by his brother Allen and wife Betty of Albuquerque, his sister Carol Calloway and husband Danny of Phoenix, nephews Allen Jr. and wife Rebecca, Nathan Calloway and wife Anna, niece Heather Kissam and husband Todd and his great nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the Good Life Senior Living and Memory Care home in Los Lunas and Amber Care of Belen for the wonderful care he received during his illness.

Honoring Dick's wishes there will be no service.  In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, HC 61 Box 28 in Ramah, New Mexico 87321 (add in memory of Dick) or the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque.
