Darlene, age 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unmistakable style.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, Darlene later made her home in New Mexico, where she spent most of her life building a career as a hairdresser, raising her family, and touching countless lives with her warmth and talent.
To Darlene, hairdressing wasn’t just a profession—it was her passion. She devoted her life not only to doing hair but also to mentoring other hairstylists, generously sharing her knowledge and encouraging others to grow in their craft just as she had. She believed in lifting people up, not only behind her chair but beyond it.
Known for her love of cars and music—not to mention her beautiful ’80s-style hair—Darlene had an effervescent smile and a vibrant personality that filled every room. She was a nonjudgmental, open-hearted woman and the kind of person people felt safe around. With her sharp, funny, and sarcastic wit, she was fiercely loyal to those she loved.
Darlene is survived by her beloved children, Joshua, Whitney, and Tatiana, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Harper, Kai, David, Mariah, and Orlando, each of whom brought her endless happiness. She is also survived by her sisters, Lynn and Liz, and her brothers, Mike and Steve.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis; her mother, Kathryn; her stepmother, Mary Joe; and her two beautiful sisters, Laura and Eileen.
Darlene will be remembered for her loyalty, her humor, her passion, and the way she made everyone feel seen and accepted. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the students she mentored, and the countless lives she brightened with her smile.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
