Obituary

Eva Mae Haynes was born on December 22, 1930 in Paris, TX and was the beloved daughter of John and Viola Emerson. She had two brothers; Willie and Lorenzo Emerson. She moved to Albuquerque, NM

in 1949 where she joined her cousins who had already made New Mexico their home. She married Joe Conners and this union was blessed with 7 sons: Joe, Jimmy, Jerry, Jerome, Juster, Jeffery, and Jonathan. After her husband Joe passed, she later married Oliver Haynes.

Eva was a very quiet person and seemed to be a little shy at times. She had a sweet spirit and loved being with her first cousins from the Hughes family. Since she was the only girl in her family, they seemed more like sisters to her. She cherished the time she spent with them.

They had many family gatherings laughing and talking while their children enjoyed each other's company.

Her favorite pass time was going to church. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for many years and later attended First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. She was known to be decked out in her beautiful suits and outstanding hats. She was beautiful on the outside and more importantly on the inside. She volunteered her service to the Noon Day Ministries connected to First Baptist Church for 30 years.

Eva had ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. On July 16, 2026, Eva passed away after a short stay in the hospital. She is survived by her five sons:

Joe (Jackie), Jerome, Jester, Jeffery, and Jonathan all of Albuquerque; her niece Debra and a host of cousin.
