Gilbert Castillo

February 11, 1933 — May 18, 2017

Gilbert Castillo age 84, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella T. Castillo; two sons, James G. and John P. Castillo. Gilbert is survived by three sons, Jose and wife Lety, Steve Castillo and James (Dario) and wife Lourdes; one daughter, Joleen and husband Ernest Montoya; two sisters, Dolores and Lizzie of California; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. Gilbert served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing the guitar and bass guitar which he played with many local bands. Rosary will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 7:30 pm at Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave SE. Funeral mass to be celebrated, Thursday, June 1, 2017, 10:00 am, at The Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Anthony Castillo, Jose Castillo, Gregory Castillo, John Castillo, Steven Castillo and Tino Lopez.
