Harvey Monk

December 13, 1957 — November 6, 2016

Harvey Floyd Monk also known as “Mike” was born on December 13, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Venoil “Pete” and Clemontine Monk.  He was the youngest of seven children. The family relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1959.   He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1975.  Harvey was a student at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), where he studied HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning) and Plumbing.  He frequently attended Legacy Church.  Harvey was employed briefly, at General Electric, but mostly was self-employed. Harvey was very generous and a devoted friend.  As time permitted, he volunteered his time at shelters around the city.  He had a passion for dogs and adopted several different breeds throughout his lifetime.

Harvey departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his Father and two sisters, Patricia Beckwith and Billie Jean White. Cherishing his memories are his Mother, Clemontine; siblings, Marylynn Whitley of Kansas City, MO, Sandra and Kenneth Monk of Albuquerque, NM, Marsha Monk of Martinez, CA, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The Lord is My Shepherd
From the Christian Bible
Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Where I have gone I am not so small.
My soul is as wide as the world is tall.
I have gone to answer the call,
Of the One who takes care of us all.
Wherever you look, you will find me there-
In the heart of a rose,
In the heart of a prayer.
On butterflies' wings, on wings of my own,
To you, I'm gone,
But I'm never alone-
I am home.
