Joan Jones

Joan Jones, 69 passed away on November 18, 2015 after a prolonged battle with cancer.  Joan is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, James. Her sons Bobby and his wife Brandy, David Smythe and wife Susan. Grandchildren; Desiree Jones, Jessica Davenport, Christopher Jones, Bryan Smythe, Stephen Jones, Trevor Jones, Carter Jones, Peyton Jones, Julian Smythe, Shawn Smythe and countless loved friends. She will also be remembered by many for her dedicated activism and commitment to the Pat Hurley Neighborhood Association and the larger Westside community. For many years Joan also volunteered service to the Albuquerque Police and Bernalillo County Sheriff's departments. She loved her community and the people in it and worked hard to improve the quality of life for all.  Viewing will be at Strong Thorne Life Event Center 1100 Coal SE on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School NE on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s name can be made to the Humane Association of New Mexico; 615 Virginia SE.
