John A. Dixon Jr. affectionately known as “Sonny” was born in Montgomery Alabama on July 15, 1950, to the late John and Mary Dixon. Sonny graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1968, then enlisted in the Navy serving in the Vietnam War as Seaman 4. John worked for Mountain Bell / US West Telephone Company for 15 years.
Sonny was a very outgoing, energetic, happy and loving person. He had a kind and considerate nature, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his brother Timothy L. Dixon of Albuquerque NM, Sister Kathleen Freeman of Roswell NM. Son Marc Dixon of Albuquerque NM., Daughter Nicole and husband Joe Thornton of Dallas Texas. Sonny also leaves behind 3 beloved Grandchildren: Cameron Dixon (Arizona), Alyssa Dixon (New Mexico) and James Curtis Love and wife Shelby (Illinois) and a beautiful Great Grandchild Jordan Love (Illinois). Sonny was adored and cherished by his Nieces and Nephews. Nieces: Dectra Dixon (New Mexico) and Deanishia Washington (Texas) and Nephews: Antoine Washington (Texas) and Danton Washington (Texas) and a host of loving cousins and special friends.
