Johnny Lee Smith

Johnny Lee Smith was born December 12,1962 in Roswell N.M. to the parentage of the late Jack and Maeola Smith.

Johnny received his formal education in the Roswell Independent school district. After high school Johnny went to work in Odessa Texas in the oil industry for a short time and then spent several years residing between Roswell and Albuquerque N.M. where Johnny worked as a “Jack-of-all-trades”. Johnny later moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked with the Beverly Hills school district and later with the oil refinery. During this time Johnny met and married Angela Brown and continued to reside in California for several years. Johnny later moved back to Albuquerque N.M. where he resided until his departure.

Johnny had a very big heart and a very big smile to match it. Johnny was always joking around and never seemed to meet a stranger. Johnny's greatest pastime was fishing where he said he really enjoyed the quiet and relaxation time to just unwind. Johnny also enjoyed taking his nephew or nieces out fishing from time to teach them all about his great fishing skills. Sometimes family members would even jokingly call him the “fish whisperer”. At other times Johnny just enjoyed hanging out with family and friends.

Preceding Johnny in death are his Parents Jack and Maeola Smith, his brothers, Mike and Marvin Smith, and his sisters, Verna and Erma Smith. Johnny leaves to mourn his wife, Angela Brown, daughter, Jazmine Gantt and stepdaughters, Diamond and Daejanae Wortham. Grandchildren, Elijah, Gregory, Jobi and Angeline. Beatrice Hudson Warren, Ola Mae Kerns and Marva Washington all of Albuquerque, NM. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
