Joseph "Joey" Callahan, 39, or Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Joey grew up in Sandia Park, NM. He is a graduate of Manzano High School in Albuquerque, where he lettered in soccer. Joey attended the University of New Mexico. He was also a member of the FIJI Fraternity, where he made many friends.

Joey had a 15-year career with Pappadeaux Restaurant and relocated to Cincinnati, OH, with the company. At the beginning of the pandemic, Joey made a career change to Kroger Company.

Joey was beloved for his kindness, humor, love of family and passion for Sports.

Joey is survived by his partner, Michale Settembrini, his mother, Virginia Callahan, his sister Renee Callahan, sister-in-law Janelle Callahan, and nephew Leo. Joey is preceded in death by his father, Tom Callahan. We will Forever cherish our family memories.

A funeral service will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in Albuquerque, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2 pm followed by a reception there.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made in Joey's memory To the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
