Joseph Louis Murphy Sr.

Joseph Louis Murphy Sr. (Joe L. Murphy Sr.) departed this life on November 22, 2022.  He served in the U.S. Air Force, the National Guard and was a Vietnam combat veteran. He previously held the position of President of the NAACP for the NW Chapter Rio Rancho.  Joe was preceded in death by his brothers Hanibal Jr., Clarence, Walter, Edward, John, Fred and two sisters, Lela Mae Mayfield, Jeanine Murphy, and daughters Ruby and Pearl Murphy. He is survived by two sisters, Dollie Thompson, Laura Lipscomb, and husband, Don and step-sister, Cleonis Farmer all of Albuquerque; five children, Ruthie Glenn of Albuquerque NM, Joseph L. Murphy Jr. of Albuquerque NM, Monique Robinson of Evansville IN, Sandi K. Shelby of Albuquerque NM, and Antoinette Murphy of Bonaire GA. He was blessed with numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Murphy will be held at God's House Church on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Michael Shelby Pastor of God's House Church officiating with interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Park after a brief repast in the fellowship hall.
