A Life Remembered

Juanita Dalton Martinez passed away peacefully in 2026 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 8, 1934, in La Cueva (Glorieta), New Mexico, to James and Estefanita Dalton, Juanita lived a life marked by devotion, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She was a proud graduate of Santa Fe High School's class of 1954, completing her 12th grade education during a time when such achievement represented dedication and determination.

Family and Relationships

Juanita's life was enriched by deep family bonds and enduring relationships. She was married to Pete Martinez from 1957 to 1970, sharing nearly two decades of partnership and love. Following Pete's passing, she found companionship again with Gilbert L. Martinez, to whom she was married from 1971 until his death in 1999.

As a devoted mother, Juanita raised eight children:

Juanita is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry forward her values and spirit. She is also survived by her sisters Lenora (William) and Virginia (Bruce), and her brothers Herman (Maria), Richard, and Jessie. The Dalton family bond remained strong throughout her life, providing comfort and connection across generations.

Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Estefanita Dalton, her sons Freddie and Frankie, her brothers Daniel, Alfredo, and Arthur, and her sisters Ramona and Susana. Though she has joined those who went before her, her memory lives in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Life Service Information

The family invites all who knew Juanita to join in celebrating her life and legacy. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. Following the Mass, burial services will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of the Martinez and Dalton families, with Honorary pallbearers Herman, Richard, and Jessie Dalton. The family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects and share in remembering a remarkable woman whose love and strength touched so many lives.
