Lopez, Lucille
Lucille G. Lopez, 73 was called to join our loving father in Heaven on September 27th, 2022. Lucille (Lulu) was born in Espanola to Michael Albert and Eva (Martinez) Lopez on November 14th, 1948.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters Inez (Tony) Deines and Juanita, and brothers Mike, Paul Eddie, and Emmanuel.  She is survived by her children Emmit Hamilton, Elizabeth Hamilton and EJ (Melanie) Lopez, along with her two grandchildren Anthony and Alena and beloved dog Sammie. She is also survived by sisters, Rebecca (Orlando) Romero, Roseanne (Bart) Ripp, Mary (Steve) Bingham, Josephine, Eva, Patty (Andy) Walker, Frances (Joe) Cotanch and Cathy (Kevin) Karns; and brothers John Jake (Lydia), Thomas and Albert.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.

Lucille graduated Valedictorian from Espanola High School in 1966. She then attended the University of New Mexico graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1970.  Lucille became an Intensive Care Nurse, taking care of patients for over 30 years at Lovelace, St. Joseph’s and UNM hospitals. She eventually transitioned to clinical instructor at CNM Nursing School and retired in 2011 to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a dedicated Mary Kay representative, helping to enrich the lives of other women and their families.

Lucille devoted her life to her children and found happiness in helping others as a caregiver, healer, or mentor.  She played an important role in many people’s lives.  We will always remember her kindness in her actions and wisdom in her words, and of course the way she loved to sing and dance.  Lucille will truly be missed by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
