Marjorie K. Shea
Marjorie Kilberg Shea passed peacefully in her home in Albuquerque on May 15, 2024. She was born on November 4, 1925 to Ida Jensen Kilberg and Conrad Henry Kilberg in West Haven, Connecticut. She married John L. Shea in December 1948 and soon after they moved from Connecticut to Hobbs, New Mexico to begin their new life together. They were the proud parents of three daughters and two sons--Dana, Maureen, Helen, John, Jr. and Daniel. After the untimely loss of her husband, Marjorie and her young family relocated to the Albuquerque area where she remained for the rest of her life.
While in her 50s, Marjorie enrolled at the University of New Mexico and studied anthropology. She loved working on archeological digs to help locate and preserve artifacts and document their history for future studies and remained a diligent conservator of Native American arts and culture.
In addition to her children Marjorie also had ten grandchildren, 14 great grands, a nephew, five nieces, a large, loving extended family and many dear friends. Services will be held on a later date in West Haven, Connecticut where she will be laid to rest in St. Lawrence Cemetery joining her late husband and other family members.
Contributions may be made in Marjorie Shea's memory to the Nature Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology or the University of New Mexico Foundation.
