Sis Marjorie Jean Williams was born October 18, 1933, in Austin Texas, to Louis and Lacey McArthur. Marjorie Jean confessed Christ at an early age. She united in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Charles Armstead. To this union they had seven children. In 1955 Marjorie and her family relocated from Austin, Texas to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
After a few years in Albuquerque, she met and married Otis Williams.
To her second marriage she and Otis had six children. They Wonderfully and gracefully raised thirteen children there here in Albuquerque. Not only did she deeply care for her husband and her children, but she also loved the Lord and believed that all her helped form the God. She united with the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist in the early 60’s. Under the leadership of Pastor Alonzo Twitty Sr. He was faithful, she made sure that all of her family were rooted and grounded in the Lord.
After the passing of Pastor Alonzo Twitty Sr., Marjorie continued under the present leadership of Rev. Donald Twitty Sr. She was faithful in all aspects of the church. Member of the Senior Choir, the Senior Women’s Ministry, a faithful attendee of Sunday school and always attending the morning worship service, being blessed by the preaching of her pastor.
Not only was she active in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, but she was a shining light throughout the church community always willing to help and serve wherever she could. It was not strange to see her at various church service throughout the city being an active part making sure that the community knew that she was a servant of Jesus Christ.
In the early 80’s Marjorie joined Mt. Everest Chapter 3 of the Eastern Stars. She truly believed in their mission and was active in various positions throughout the years. She had the privilege of serving as, Worthy Matron from for one year, District 1 leader for over twenty-five years in the Prince Hall Grand Chapter, order of the Eastern Star, PHA New Mexico Jurisdiction.
She was a member of the San Hendrin Assembly #59 of the Golden Circle. Additionally, she played major role in the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry PHA Valley in Albuquerque. Whenever you see Grandma Marjorie (affectionately known as) she would be on her way to a meeting, a church service or somewhere to see her children participate in various activities. Marjorie believed in education. She made sure that her children understood the value of education. She was not able to complete her high school education. So not only was she encouraging her children to pursue higher education. She returned to school to complete her GED; she continued on to receive a degree from the University of New Mexico in criminology.
Marjorie reminded her children that an education was important but also as important as faith and prayer, knowledge, and character it would be nearly impossible to achieve their dreams.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband Otis Williams, daughters Marjorie Regina Williams, Augusta Renee Davis leaving one living daughter, Guyla Cox and son Ronald Craig Armstead Sr. Leaving Ronald Craig Armstead Jr. with 7 children and sister Brookie Nell Harris leaving one living son Lacy Harris. She leaves to mourning her passing and cherish her memory baby sister Oma June Jones, and children’s Charles Elaine and Phillip Banks with 4 children, Rev. Quincy Louis Armstead, with 2 daughters, Angela Faye Armatead 3sons, Deacon Rodney Bruce and Beth Armstead, with 5 children. Otis Eugene and Socorro Armstead, Todd Nathaniel Williams with 3 children, Nina Kay Porter with 2 children, Cord Vincent Williams with 4 children, Osie Dwayne and Frances Williams with 2 children, Robert Anthony and Mericia Williams with 4 children. Majorie Jean had 30 Grandchildren,70 Great Grandchildren, 30 Great Great Grandchildren and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and Friend.
She is survived by her sister, Brookie Nell Harris, one daughter Charles Elaine Banks (Phillip), sons, Rev. Quincy Louis Armstead, Ottis (Socorro), Todd Nathaniel Williams.
Thirty grandchildren, Seventy great-grandchildren, thirty great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends both near and far.
Marjorie's family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate her remarkable life during the following services. A visit will be held on November 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Strong Thorne Mortuary, located at 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. This will be followed by a funeral service at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 608 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102, on November 18, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. Marjorie will then be laid to rest in a burial at Fairview Cemetery, located at 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, at 12:30 PM the same day.
Marjorie Jean Williams leaves behind a legacy filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories. She will be dearly missed but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who know her.
