Longtime Albuquerque resident Priscilla (Pris) Ann Gineris passed away quietly at the age of 90 on June 4, 2025.
Priscilla’s life began November 14, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, one of nine children to Frank and Marian (Witasik) Lewanski. Priscilla was a graduate of DePaul University, where she majored in English and Speech and met her husband Angelo J. Gineris. Priscilla also studied and taught at Loyola University at the downtown Chicago campus. After moving to Albuquerque in 1957 with her husband, Priscilla served as a substitute school teacher in English in the Albuquerque Public Schools. She became active in the Albuquerque community and served as President of the Albuquerque Chapter of the Santa Fe Opera, a Board Member of the Little Theatre in downtown Albuquerque and President of All Faiths Receiving Home. An avid reader and author, Priscilla started her own radio talk show on KZIA AM radio in the Duke City called the Pris Gineris Show on which she interviewed leading civic, business and community leaders at the city and state level and reviewed the books of noted authors. Priscilla enjoyed painting, loved animals, had a passion for classical and operatic music and was a lifetime teacher and mentor to her three children and to young adults. She also enjoyed swimming and tennis. Later in life, Priscilla became a non-denominational ordained minister.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Angelo J. Gineris, of 53 years, her beloved sisters, Sylvia, Barbara, Thelma, LaVerne, Sandra and Marlene and her brother Richard. She is survived by her brother Michael and by her son Marc A. Gineris (Jean), daughter Dr. Beth L. Gineris, son Peter James Gineris II (Rebecca), and her granddaughter Kate Mary Sophia Gineris Romanik.
A funeral service is to be held on Friday June 13, 2025 11:00 am at Strong Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE Albuquerque, NM 87106. Interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Park 700 Yale Blvd SE 87106
