Reginald "Reggie" Eugene Johnson, 39, passed away at home March 6, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.Reggie was born March 19, 1986, to Herlethia Marie Stanley and Raymond Edward Johnson.
Reggie made lifelong connections with his peers from Whittier Elementary School, Wilson Middle School, Highland High School, and the University of New Mexico. Throughout his scholastic career, he led with a light that attracted scores of people. Many hail him as the King of Duke City. He leaves a legacy of charisma, and laughter. He never met a stranger. A master showman, Reggie showcased many gifts. His talents blossomed in every aspect of his life. A lifelong member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, he was the captain of the Drill Team and soloist in the choir. He was an actor in school plays, an athlete playing football basketball, and track and field. He was president of the Black Student Union at Highland High School; a college graduate from the University of New Mexico, and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity inc.
As a pillar of the community, Reggie was a Competitor in New Mexico's Best Gospel Competition. A member of the Albuquerque Fellowship Choir (AFC). He was a Mentor for middle and high school boys; a Coach for the YAFL Vikings and Bears flag football teams
Reggie was a firstborn son, a brother, an uncle, a father. Reggie is survived by his mother Herlethia Marie Stanley-Keels (Emmanuel) three daughters Nejua "JuJu" Shanar Brown, Kymille "Millie Rock" Rai Johnson, Kenia Armoni Michelle Johnson, sisters Koby Watkins, Raychelle "Lil Reggie" Evette Johnson, and Rayanna "Pookie Doo" Ebonee Johnson, brothers Raymond Johnson, and Tristan Lewis. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A visitation to honor Reginald's life will be held on March 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Strong Thorne Mortuary, located at 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place on March 25, 2026, at Macedonia Baptist Church, starting at 11:00 AM. This final ceremony will celebrate Reginald's life and provide an opportunity for family and friends to gather, share their memories, and pay their respects.
Reginald is deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
