Richard "Rick" H. Landholm, 73 years of age, beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother was called home on January 14, 2018.
Rick was born June 13, 1944, in West Point, Nebraska, to William and Doris Landholm of rural West Point.
He attended Oakland High School where he was captain of the football and basketball teams and graduated in the Spring of 1962.
Rick joined the Air Force in January of 1963 and was honorably discharged in
January 1967. During his tour he was stationed at March Air Force Base in
California and then reassigned to Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he met the love of his life.
While working at the NCO club he met Cecilia Padilla who he immediately knew would be his lifelong soul mate. They were married on July 22, 1967. Their union was blessed with the births of two children, daughter Shannon (Chacon) and Jeffrey.
Rick was an avid fan of baseball and college football where his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers was known far and wide. He loved playing golf and his favorite pastime was watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cecilia; daughter Shannon — son-inlaw Freddy Chacon, granddaughters Annalise and Isabella; son Jeffrey — grandson Jayden and granddaughters Contessa and Corrina. Brothers Larry Landholm and
Bill Landholm, sister JoAnn Petet all of West Point, NE and sister Jan Evert of
Lincoln, NE. Sisters-in-law; Dora of Las Vegas, NM; Carmen, Josie, Ida, Mary Lou, Mary Alice (husband Roger) all of Albuquerque, NM. 25 nieces and nephews and 95 great/great-great nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Landholm; his inlaws, Carlos and Corina Padilla; sisters-in-law Marie Burton and Jean Landholm.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Strong~Thorne – 1100 Coal Ave SE. The Rosary/Mass will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church - 833 Arizona SE
