Rosalie O'Mealy
Stevenson
Jun 13, 1933 — Aug 15, 2026
Albuquerque
On August 15, 2026, Rosalie Stevenson was called home. Rosalie, the second child out of five siblings of the late Harold C. Mackey, Sr. and Mary E. Mackey, was born on June 13, 1933 in Summerville, South Carolina. She was the second child of this union to be called home and was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sibling William E. Mackey Sr.
She completed her education at Alston High School in South Carolina. After high school she went to New York City to attend Julliard School of Music and studied Piano. She later met her husband Charles W. Stevenson, and they were wed in Holy Matrimony. From this union, they were blessed with 5 children: Charles W. Stevenson II, Gardenia L. Stevenson, Darius W. Stevenson, Valerie L. Stevenson (deceased), and Terry G. Stevenson, who then blessed them with 5grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
As a young child, she attended Wesley United Methodist Church with her family. After marriage, she, her husband and children attended many churches due to Charles Sr. being in the Air Force. Rosalie’s final church home before being called home was Grant Chapel A.M.E. (Albuquerque).
Throughout her life, she was employed as a Housekeeper through the various states (Idaho, Kansas, and New Mexico) and eventually retiring from Kirtland Air Force Base where she worked her way to the top of management.
Rosalie was affectionately known as Rose in the community. She loved cooking, aquariums, gardening, and playing the piano at the church.
She was also involved in the Order of the Eastern Stars, becoming the Past Grand Matron. She was also involved in the Golden Circle and the Commandress of the Daughters of the Desert. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with family and listening to music.
She loved her family, kids, grands, and great-grands and great great grands. She spent what time she could affectionately with all of them. She did whatever she could do to put a smile on their face.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Charles W. Stevenson II, Gardenia L. Stevenson, Darius W. Stevenson, and Terry G. Stevenson: her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and great great grandchild; her surviving siblings, Harold Mackey Jr. (Arizona), Frances Melvin (South Carolina), and Louis Mackey (Virginia), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
