Sara Lee Anaya

September 27, 1975 — May 21, 2025

Albuquerque

Sara Lee Anaya, born September 27th, 1975, to John Joseph and Viola Lee Anaya in Oakland, California, has been called home by our lord and savior as a daughter to a military father she spent her growing up years all over the world to include Germany, California, Kansas and New Mexico finally making Albuquerque her home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Lee McGinnis, granddaughter Savannah Dunbar; paternal grandmother, Dolores Garcia; aunts, Virginia Montano, & Jesusita Soto, and uncle Richard Soto, maternal grandmother, Elizabeth McGinnis; maternal grandfather Calvin McGinnis;

Sara leaves behind her beloved partner of 23 years Richard H. Webb; daughters Kristy Leann Anaya,& Brianna Hernandez, son Richard Lee Webb, granddaughters Josephine Starla Yawakie and soon to be born Eliana Sara Dunbar, father, John J. Anaya; sisters, Sandra Lee Anaya, & Susan Anaya, brother, Anthony and sisters, Cassandra, Tonya,& Natasha, She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, sisters and brother in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and friends all of whom were touched by her love and kindness. Sara's radiant soul illuminated the world around her with kindness, compassion, and generosity. She was a devoted mother to her children, and a loving grandmother to her granddaughter Josephine Starla Yawakie whom Sara together with Richard have raised as their own since she was a baby. Sara was anxiously waiting to meet her newest granddaughter Eliana Sara Dunbar to be born by c-section on June 12, 2025. Her family was her rock, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She loved cooking for her family and enjoyed having frequent summer barbecues and was happiest when she had a house full of children. She enjoyed spending time with Richard playing dominoes and listening to music. And fond of playing bingo and slot machines.

Sara loved all of her many nieces and nephews. Two of them held a very special place in her heart. Taytay and Raylynn. Sara's love, kindness and generosity shined bright when she selflessly took in and cared for her newborn niece Raylynn Lee, showering her with the same love and devotion she gave to her own children. Raylynn still lovingly refers to Sara as her “mama Sara.” Sara shared something similar with TayTay creating a lifelong unbreakable bond between them. Her kindness and generosity was extended to all, great and small. Sara was a true animal lover especially when it came to wounded or strays, her compassion knew no bounds. When she was a child, she brought home a dying bird, and lovingly nursed it back to health, not to mention the numerous kittens and puppies she’s rescued over the years. From a young age, Sara demonstrated amazing courage and resilience to overcome any obstacle in her way which inspired those around her. As she grew into adulthood, her strength and determination only deepened, earning her the admiration and love of her family and friends. As we say bye to our partner, daughter, sister, mother, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend we take comfort in the knowledge that this is not the end, for Jesus said he went to prepare a place for us. We are also reminded of God's amazing love as he took away all her pain and suffering and is now at peace. We will cherish our memories of Sara and never forget how much of an impact she made on those who knew and loved her. Her radiant soul, courageous spirit, and her boundless love will be greatly missed. Sara's legacy will live on in our hearts, inspiring us to be kinder, more compassionate, and more generous people. Rest in peace, dear Sara. Dance, sing and be free. Your love will never be forgotten.” till we meet again.
