Shanice Harris

December 12, 1999 — March 14, 2021

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Shanice Tiara Harris “ShayShay” (AKA Shay) left this world unexpectedly at 21, on 3/14/2021. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December 12, 1999. She attended East San Jose Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, graduated from Albuquerque High School in 2018, Central New Mexico Community College, and transferred to Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

Shanice was a lover of the performing arts and fashion and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She was funny, outgoing, and vivacious. Her love for dance and music started at a young age, which included African, modern, and hip-hop. She grew up in the church and attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she praised danced for the lord. She also danced for Jefferson Middle School and the Albuquerque High “bulldoggie” dance teams. After high school she attended CNM and transferred to Texas Southern University where she studied psychology and was selected for the Motion Squad Dance Team. She spent her final days in Houston loving college, making music, and living life to the fullest.

Appropriately self-nicknamed “Shay Major” a symbol of power, beauty, and grace, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. We will always remember her infectious smile, outgoing personality and her incredible determination and drive in pursuing her dreams. She loved writing, making music, and spending endless hours in the studio.

When you think of Shanice celebrate the good memories you have for her. Remember that life is fragile and short, and it should be lived to the fullest. Shanice is survived by her mother Nia Harris; her father’s William Smith III and Curtis Nickols; her sisters Kiara, Goldie, Imani and Earil; her brother Curtis; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held 11am on Monday March 29th, 2021 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church located at 608 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE Albuquerque, NM 87102.
