Shawn Serita Horn, “The Amazing Warrior,” age 62, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went on to be with the Lord on December 4, 2021. After battling an aggressive illness, she endured so much with so little complaint. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her transition.
Ms. Horn aka “Rita Girl” was born in Bronx, New York and was an obvious artist from a very young age. After graduating High School in Baltimore, Maryland, Shawn went on to join the Air Force and landed in Albuquerque where she met her husband.
After 36 years of service with APS she retired in 2020. Shawn spent her time enjoying teaching and doing arts and crafts, being a grandmother, the theatre, traveling, volunteering in her community and, spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her brother James Alexander and her husband Phillip Horn. She is survived by Mother-Charlotte Sye, Brothers-Michael Sye (wife Rachel) and Mark Sye (Tashunda), Sister-Miguel “Rikki” Vincent (Husband-Fred), Son-James Bishop Horn, Daughter-Leslee Serita Horn, her “sister from another mister” Marian Goodwin (Husband, Johnny “Uncle Johnny” ), Grandchildren, Jacob Christian Horn, Josiah Anthony Lucero, Four legged grand children: Maximillion, Eva Diva, Hamilton, Snoopy, and Bindi, Nephews-Justin, Jaden, and Chase Sye. Christian Vincent, Niece-Mikayla Vincent, and a host of family, and friends.
Her artistic talents will be forever longed for and remembered in the community.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday December 8th, 2021 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 1509 Edith SE.
