Vinner C. Brooks, (1949- 2025) a life-long resident of Albuquerque NM passed away on June 09, 2025 surrounded by his family, at the age of 75.
Vinner attended Rio Grande High School before proudly enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served as an artillery specialist. During his military service, he was given the nickname 'Smoke'—a name that became a lasting part of his identity. He was consistently praised by his peers and superiors for his dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic. After completing his service, Vinner pursued several career paths, one of which was working as a security specialist for various organizations. Known for his unwavering commitment to rules and regulations, he earned a reputation as a stickler for safety and precision. In fact, although it wasn’t part of his official duties, Vinner took the initiative to completely rewrite the safety and security guidelines for one of his organizations—a testament to his meticulous nature and attention to detail. His precision, integrity, and sense of responsibility were just a few of the many qualities that defined him. To this day, many still affectionately refer to him as 'Smoke'—a name that followed him from his military days and remained a symbol of his strength, character, and enduring presence.
Vinner had a lifelong passion for bowling. He was not only an avid bowler but also a respected leader in the sport. As a Master Instructor and Certified Silver Coach, he dedicated countless hours to mentoring others and elevating the game. Vinner organized and participated in numerous bowling events, where his enthusiasm, skill, and commitment brought people together and left a lasting impact on the bowling community. He also had a deep passion for the Special Olympics, finding great joy in helping and teaching athletes of all abilities. Vinner was known for his warm and welcoming nature—people often said they felt comfortable around him. He was a great listener, a source of encouragement, and a safe place for many. His kindness, patience, and generosity touched countless lives.
