Viola began her life’s journey in the tiny town of Pueblitos, New Mexico, on July 17, 1925.  Her journey ended almost ninety years later on May 4, 2015, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Viola, was a devoted wife to William C. Garcia (dec.); a beloved mother of Maria (Rod), Michael (Theresa), Cecilia (dec.), Stephen (dec.), Catherine (Dan), Imelda (Tim), Martin (dec.), John, Jim (Gloria), Lara, and Mark; and beloved by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the daughter of Maria and Epompeyo Baca, sister to Floripe, Barbara, Leocadia, Evangeline, Abel, Quirino, Ezequiel, Alfredo, and Eloy. All preceded her in death. Viola’s devotion to her children was surpassed only by her devotion to her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Anna (David and mother of Felix), Leah, Charles, Robert, Anna Maria (Kenneth and mother of Aiden, Kaitlyn, and Ethan); Joaquin, Miguel (Jesse), Javier, Michaela (James), Alaina (mother of Salvator), Morena, Meredith (Jose Luis), Lauren (Brian), Matthew, Jennifer (mother of Christian and Ryan), Lisa (Jeremiah), Jessica (mother of Eliana), Sofia, Lucas, Kassia, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in Viola’s memory be made to Comadre a Comadre, 505-277-2398, (comadre.unm.edu), a program dedicated to empowering the lives of Hispanic/Latina women and their loved ones through advocacy, education, information, resources, and support about breast health and breast cancer. A Rosary followed by a Mass will be held at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona Ave. SE, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com.
