Deacon William S. Hall peacefully departed this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. William was blessed to be the grateful recipient of a double lung transplant in July 2019, that allowed him to live an additional six years.
William was born Thursday, March 28, 1946, to James Henry and Hannah Hall in Selma, Alabama. He was one of three sons, James, Joseph, and William Hall. He completed his education in Alabama, attending Elementary School in Plantersville, Middle School in Maplesville, and High School in Clanton, Alabama. He later moved from Alabama to New York with his mother.
Traveling was in Brother Hall’s blood. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1964. Service to his country allowed him to travel from New York, overseas to Vietnam, and then to Florida. Arriving at his final assignment at Kirtland AFB in December 1969, he completed his military service in February 1972 and made Albuquerque his permanent home.
On July 3, 1975, he married his “Boo” Patricia A. Reece. Three children were born to their union: David, Douglas, and Danielle. He’s the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren.
After his military service William entered the trucking business. He drove for ICX, BECO Mail Service, Rufus Irvin Trucking, Mesa Transportation, and Romero’s Farm Trucking. He mastered highways and freeways for forty-three (43) years with an explementary safety record.
A man of faith, who believed in the power of prayer William united with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Albuquerque in October 1973 under the pastorship of Dr. W. C. Trotter. He became an ordained Deacon in 1978 under the leadership of Rev. Del T. Phillips. Brother was a man of service for the Lord, in many capacities. The last positions held were Chairman of the Deacon Board and Trustee.
Deacon Hall was an avid fisherman in his younger days, an avid golfer in his later years, and a serious “bone” player (dominoes) throughout his life. His musical interests were just as diverse, as he enjoyed listening to gospel, jazz, and R&B genres. Always ready and willing to extend his knowledge and expertise, he was anyone’s automotive specialist with people bringing him their estimates, bills, and questions. An ever-vigilant prayer warrior, he went "humbly but boldly" to God's throne of grace and mercy for all whenever called upon, Amen!
William was preceded in death by his parents James and Hannah Hall, siblings, James and Joseph Hall, grandparents William and Viola Peoples, son-in-law Raymond Green, and all his uncles and aunts.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; wife Patricia A. Hall, children; Douglas Hall (Kim), David Hall (Elisha), and Danielle Green, eleven grandchildren, one niece, and a host of cousins. His many friends, brothers and sisters in Christ will miss him as well.
If Deacon Hall would leave a word for family and friend alike it would be “Keep your eye on the prize, the Lord Jesus Christ”
