E. Angie Candelaria

September 11, 1934 — April 12, 2021

E.Angie Candelaria, 86, of Albuquerque, New Mexico , passed away peacefully April 12, 2021with her children by her side.  She was born in Albuquerque, NM September 11,1934 to the late Faustino and Margaret Contreras.

Angie graduated from Albuquerque High School and received her teaching degree from the University of Albuquerque where she went on to teach 2nd grade.  She loved history, reading and her New Mexico heritage.  She loved teaching and especially loved summers when her grandkids would come to visit where she would teach them how to read, write and tell amazing stories.  She loved being outdoors and especially loved working in her garden and on her lawns, she would have neighbors stop in awe and ask how she kept her yard so immaculate and green (even in the winter).  She loved a good joke and always knew how to make you smile.  She was a spit fire and it showed as she was the strength to her children and grandchildren.

Angie is survived by five children: Joseph Candelaria, of Albuquerque; Cathy Candelaria, of Colorado, Jeanene Candelaria, of Colorado, Paul Candelaria, of Albuquerque; and Annamarie and Charles Schlesinger of Albuquerque.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren along with her two sisters Gloria Sanchez and Juanita Baca. Services will be held on May 14th at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo.  Rosary at 10am with mass to follow.
