Frances Bassman passed away peacefully in her sleep and into the arms of the Lord on January 20th 2021. She was the third oldest of seven children. She was preceded in death by son Patrick Bassman, her parents, George Tennessen and Lillian (Baumstark) Tennessen, brothers Phil Tennessen, Ralph Tennessen, George Tennessen, Sisters, Charlotte Erick, and Mary Hubbard. Frances is survived by her daughters Martina Bassman and Julie Bunting (Marcus), son Mark Bassman (Della), granddaughter Anne Bassman, and four grandsons Joshua Albright, Marshall Albright, Tyler Albright, and Max Bassman, great- grandson Jacob Albright and great- granddaughter Brooklynn Albright, and one sister Dorothy Tennessen. Frances was born October 12, 1927 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She attended beautician school in Milwaukee and began work in Kenosha. Moving to Albuquerque in 1950 with her sister Charlotte, she first worked at Kistler-Collister and soon after transitioned over to secretarial work at Sandia National Laboratories. At Sandia, Frances worked in the Production Engineering of Weapons Development, Electronics, and Field Test Departments as well as entertainment co-chairman for the Coronado Club. She then married and started her loving family. Her passions included art, quilting, playing golf, bridge, and sewing on her vintage Singer sewing machine. Some of Frances’ happiest times were when she would be picnicking and camping with her family. Frances traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico, and the Far East, but delighted in returning home to Albuquerque and its ideal weather. In addition, she cherished visiting relatives and always had a soft place in her heart for dogs. Frances was a volunteer for the city of Albuquerque for over 30 years, and, being a devout Catholic, served communion to fellow Catholics at the Heart Hospital. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, Queen of Heaven Parish, and Annunciation Golden Agers. Frances will be greatly missed by her loving family. A private Mass will be said in her honor.
